Greetings,
I am Sung Gon Kim, Chairman of the Korea Inter-Parliamentary Exchange Center (KIPEC).

The Republic of Korea and the United States have built a strong and enduring alliance over many decades, grounded in our shared values of freedom and democracy. Today, cooperation between our two countries extends well beyond security to a wide range of areas, including the economy, trade, advanced technology, and energy. As this cooperation continues to expand, close communication and mutual trust between our two legislatures have become more important than ever.

Throughout my public service as a member of the National Assembly’s Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee, Chairman of the National Assembly’s National Defense Committee, Co-Chair of the Korea-U.S.-Japan Trilateral Legislative Exchange, and President of the Overseas Koreans Foundation, I have gained a deep appreciation for the importance of inter-parliamentary exchange and mutual trust.

As a bridge connecting the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea and the United States Congress, the Korea Inter-Parliamentary Exchange Center will work to further expand exchanges between legislators of our two countries. We will also strengthen cooperation with the U.S. Congress, state legislatures, government agencies, think tanks, academia, and policy experts.

We will continue to do our utmost to ensure that KIPEC serves as a strong and reliable platform for deepening trust and cooperation between Korea and the United States, while contributing to peace in Northeast Asia and throughout the world.
